Currently playing for Swedish side Fredrikstad. As at May 2006, Shaaban is yet to make his international debut.

Height: 1.94m (6ft 4in)
Fact: Former Arsenal and Brighton 'keeper Shaaban, who's father is Egyptian, chose to play for his birth country despite being contacted by the Egyptian national squad on a number of occasions.

Andreas Isaksson
Made his debut for Sweden in March 2002, against Switzerland, aged 20. Currently playing for Rennes, Isaksson has won 38 caps for Sweden (as at March 1, 2006).

Height: 1.99m (6ft 6in)
Fact: Isaksson spent two years at Italian giants Juventus as cover for Gianluigi Buffon but did not make a single first team appearance for the club; he signed for Swedish side Djurgårdens in 2001 and the following year was named Swedish Goalkeeper of the Year.

John Alvbåge
Made his debut for Sweden in February 2006, against Jordan, aged 23. Currently playing for Danish side Viborg FF, Alvbåge has won 1 cap for Sweden (as at March 1, 2006).

Height: 1.87m (6ft 1in)
Fact: Alvbåge was formerly the regular goalkeeper for the Sweden U21 side; his first appearance for the senior side was in a friendly match against Jordan, which ended goalless.

Olof Mellberg
Made his debut for Sweden in February 2000, against Italy aged 22. Currently playing for Aston Villa, Mellberg has won 62 caps for Sweden and has scored 2 goals for his country (as at March 1, 2006).

Fact: In 2003, Mellberg was named Swedish Player of the Year, winning the prized Guldbollen.

Teddy Lucic
Made his debut for Sweden in June 1995, against Brazil, aged 22. Currently playing for BK Häcken, Lucic has won 80 caps for Sweden and has scored 0 goals for his country (as at March 1, 2006).

Height: 1.87m (6ft 3in)
Fact: One of the current Sweden squad's most capped players, ex-Leeds United player Lucic chose to play football at a senior level for Sweden (his country of birth), rather than Finland (his mother's home country) or Croatia (his father's home country).

Made his debut for Sweden in January 2001, against the Faroe Islands, aged 22. Currently playing for French side Rennes, Edman has won 35 caps for Sweden and has scored 1 goal for his country (as at March 1, 2006).

Fact: Edman won the Best Defender category at the Swedish Football Awards in 2004.

Petter Hansson
